Annual Meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Section of the American Physical Society (MAS 2018)
The annual meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Section (MAS) of the APS will be held on the University of Maryland College Park campus November 9–10, 2018. The meeting brings together scientists from Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, with the goal of strengthening the physics community in our region and diffusing the knowledge of physics. This meeting is an ideal opportunity for undergraduate and early career graduate students to present their research and meet researcher from other institutions.
The MAS of the APS (https://www.aps.org/units/mas/index.cfm) was founded in 2012 and has over 1700 members from academia, national laboratories and industry. The meeting will include plenary sessions, parallel sessions with invited and contributed talks, poster sessions and numerous opportunities for informal discussions. Sessions will be held on a broad range of core subjects, interdisciplinary topics -- biophysics, quantum information, chemical physics, to name a few -- as well as information on physics education and physics careers. Students are especially encouraged to give contributed talks and poster presentations.
Registration will open in early September, 2018.
