Nonlinear TeraHerz Control and Probing of Superconducting Order

April 3, 2017 - 11:00am
Andrea Cavalleri
Max-Planck-Institut, Hamburg
In this talk, I will discuss how TeraHerz pulses can be used to study the interlayer tunneling modes in
cuprate superconductors. I will discuss the physics of the Josephson plasma and how its excitation
with strong electromagnetic fields can open up new possibilities for control. I will also discuss how
these pulses can be used to measure optically silent modes associated with previously inaccessible
hidden orders.
